Throughout the centuries, from Leonardo da Vinci to Pablo Picasso, artists have sought to express themselves through a wide range of mediums, have done so using many different styles, and the subjects which have inspired them seem almost limitless.
For the artist, both the creative process and the selection of a form of expression are their means of escaping life’s restrictions and broadening their own horizons, of continually searching with their senses to be able to see anew and express something tomorrow which had only existed somewhere in the subconcious yesterday.
As such, even the most familiar themes become constant sources of renewal for the artist who will rarely view the same subject in the same way twice.
She currently has paintings on display at The Gallery on Merchant Square in Williamsburg, Virginia and at the New Town Art Gallery in Williamsburg, Virginia.
A file on Gulay’s work has been opened at the U.S. National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
