After working for a time with non-traditional materials Taylor wanted to see how his works translated back into ceramics, so in 2009 he visited the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemet, Hungary to experiment with stoneware and Helend porcelain. These works, which included doodles and whimsical attempts at pushing limits playfully, became stimulus for the Artifacts. The four large outdoor cement sculptures were installed in 2010 along the coast of a South Pacific island in Micronesia which has a long history of servitude to serial empires. The art was left in the wild as a remembrance of the native population.
