Lew Wallace Painting Concept
I love to paint the play of sunlight on rushing water and the colors and
rough surfaces of rocks and cliffs. I take many photos of a waterfall,
combining the best features as reference material for my painting. I make a small (8" x 10") color sketch in watercolor, making notes on the colors I use and the sequence in which they are applied. In my final painting I plan and visualize each brush stroke before laying down paint. I use transparent watercolors on paper using no white paint. My challenge is in showing enough detail without overworking.
